A friend of mine who’s an artist was at some kind of symposium, some kind of meeting of the minds between scientists and artists, and the question for the night was, ‘what would affect your world more, the atom bomb or a broken heart?’ And my friend said a broken heart. I think of that sometimes when I’m acting. What really means more to people on a day-to-day and moment-to-moment basis? It’s your emotions, whether you’re up or you’re down, or you’re happy or you’re sad, or you’re hurt or in love.
